what happened to your gallery?

some people like apples, some people like oranges. some people like geared bikes, some people like fixed gears. it's all a matter of preference. fixed gear addicts appreciate the simplicity of no shifting (and sometimes no brakes). It's a call back to the older times in the history of bicycling, which began WITH the fixed gear. it's extremely easy to maintain too, compared to the typical road bike. lately, there's been a growing trend of fixed gear riding among hipsters, punks, and ex-BMX'ers.

just think of it as modded cars vs. exotics. you could build up and fix up a beater bike or you can splurge thousands to get a sweet rig. in the end, it comes down to the rider.

^this guy's a regular on the rides

it all depends on the trek model. the company makes all sorts from the low-end entry level consumer bikes to the high-end professional racing bikes. a nishiki bike for $40 sounds like a good deal.. just watch out for shipping, it's killer! check out craigslist sometime. i found the best deals there..
:icontaikonan:
my bike in total costed only $80. It was a salvage yard find that was stripped, sandpapered, and rattlecanned. It was my first conversion and i'll be working on my second and third soon!
:icontaikonan:
thanks.. the bike has long been given away to a friend of mine and now i'm currently riding a fixed gear fuji.
